3 Women 3 Women is a 1977 film directed by Robert Altman starring Shelley Duvall and Sissy Spacek. The film comes directly from a dream Altman had, which he didn't fully understand himself but adapted into a treatment and intended to film without a script. 20th Century Fox greenlit the project on Altman's reputation before a script was completed but a script was written before filming though as with most Altman films, the script was just a starting point for what would be said and seen.
