There's a legend
that goes with the chair...
1:26:08
relative to prison personnel
and their families.
1:26:12
There was, um,
a youngster,
1:26:14
much the same age as I was
when I sat in the chair,
1:26:17
whose father was a guard
at the institution,
1:26:19
who toured the institution
and who sat
in the electric chair.
1:26:27
Some ten or twelve years later,
he was executed
in that same chair...
1:26:32
for the commission of a murder
during an armed robbery.
1:26:44
And so the legend grew...
1:26:46
that prison officials
shouldn't allow their children
to sit in the electric chair.
1:26:56
I kind of sat in the chair
waiting for something to happen.
1:27:01
But some 20 years later,
1:27:03
I wound up making
execution equipment,
1:27:05
instead of being the person
that the execution equipment
was used on.
1:27:09
So, maybe the legend
got turned around,
1:27:12
and maybe we created
a new legend,
1:27:14
and some good came
out of it after all.
