:41:03
I took Like A Rolling Stone,
and made it as a single...

:41:07
and I'd never written
anything like that before.

:41:09
And it suddenly came to me
that was what I should do.

:41:13
After writing that, I wasn't interested
in writing a novel or a play or anything.

:41:18
Like I knew I just had too much,
I wanted to write songs.

:41:21
About having to scrounge
:41:23
Your next meal
:41:38
Mike Bloomfield said he had heard
my first record...

:41:42
and said he wanted to show me
how the blues were played...

:41:45
and I didn't feel much competitive...
:41:48
I didn't feel much competitive with him,
he could outplay anybody, even at that...

:41:53
at that point, you know.
:41:56
But when it was time
to bring in a guitar player on my record...

:42:00
I couldn't think of anybody but him.
:42:02
I mean, he just was the best guitar player
I ever heard.

:42:05
Okay, Bob. We've got everybody here,
let's do one. And then...

:42:08
A producer named Tom Wilson
invited me to a recording session.

:42:11
And me being 21 years old
and incredibly ambitious...

:42:15
and a big Bob Dylan fan, I decided
I was going to play on that session.

:42:19
There was another guitar player
who sat down, and was warming up...

:42:23
and just was playing far beyond my abilities.
:42:26
And he turned out to be Mike Bloomfield.
:42:29
I packed up my guitar, and I went into
the control room where I belonged.

:42:34
After the first couple of hours
of the session, they moved...

:42:40
the organ player over to piano.
:42:45
And I said,
"Well, here's another chance for me".

:42:48
So I said to Tom Wilson:
:42:51
"Why don't you let me play the organ?
:42:53
"I got a great part for this,"
which was total bullshit.

:42:59
And Tom Wilson said,
"Oh, man, you don't play the organ.
