Parineeta (translation: The Married Woman) is a Bollywood cinematic adaptation of the 1914 Bengali novel, Parineeta by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. Directed by debutant Pradeep Sarkar, based upon a screenplay by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, the movie featured Saif Ali Khan, Sanjay Dutt and debutante Vidya Balan. Although the book is set in 1914, this film places it in the Kolkata of 1962.
